The presentation of both traditional and contemporary artistic work
High-quality dance education and performance opportunities
Led by a New Generation
In this next chapter, Kylin Movement will be guided by the collaborative leadership of three outstanding artists and independent initiatives:

Our Journey: From KYLD to Kylin Movement
1997-98 (New York Beginnings): Kun-Yang Lin/Dancers (KYLD) was founded by choreographer and dancer Kun-Yang Lin in New York City.
2003 (Relocation to Philadelphia): Lin relocated to Philadelphia following the tragic events of 9/11, the death of his father, and a sudden brain cancer diagnosis. Surviving the illness, he refocused his energy on educating the next generation, accepting a professorship at Temple University. KYLD transitioned to Philadelphia.
2007-2008 (CHI Movement Arts Center, InHale Performance Series): The company officially incorporated in Philadelphia and opened its permanent South Philadelphia headquarters at the CHI Movement Arts Center in the Italian Market. This venue quickly became a vibrant community hub for movement research and public classes. During this pivotal year, KYL/D launched both its Open Studio series and the landmark InHale Performance Series, creating a fertile incubation ground for emerging young artists.
2026 (Final home season of KYLD): After nearly three decades, the company concluded its run with a final home-season performance at Drexel University’s Mandell Theater, leaving a deep impact on Philadelphia's arts landscapeAfter the 28th Anniversary season.
Across 3 performances, more than 1000 audience members gathered with us in the shared space of reflection, celebration, and transformation. The energy in the theater was undeniable-filled with love, light, and a deep sense of connection. Together, We didn’t just witness Echo & Flame: Feng Huang Awakens-
We lived it.
